Salvation

In Acts 2:37 in the middle of the first gospel sermon the audience stopped Peter and asked: “Men and Brethren, What Shall We Do?”. This is a question that has been asked many times over the course of human history. Sadly today if you go to 10 different “Churches” and ask the same question(What must I do to be saved?), you are likely to get 10 different answers.

Some will teach that you must only believe to be saved, but we find in James 2:19 where even the Demons do believe and tremble. So if belief only could save us then the demons would be saved also(highly unlikely).

Other still teach that we are saved by faith alone. This also is a false doctrine because if you search the scriptures you will only find the words Faith and Only in one verse(James 2:24), and it says “Not By Faith Only”.

So with all of the confusion about salvation in the denominational world, we must understand what Paul told the church at Corinth in 1 Corinthians 14:33:

For God is not the author of Confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints

God intended for his will to be made perfectly clear to his creation through the Holy Scriptures. So with this in mind let us answer the question what must I do to be saved, directly from the scriptures:

We Must:

Hear God’s Word – Romans 10:17

Believe In God and His Son – John 6:29

Repent From a Life of Sin – Acts 17:30

Confess That Jesus is The Son of God – Romans 10:10

Be Baptized For The Remission of Sins – Acts 2:38

Live Faithfully The Remainder of Our Lives – Revelation 2:10
